Attempting an Authentic 40's Look! | My Video Looks

Recently I did a movie review for Captain America: The First Avenger in which I decided to dress up in my best attempt at 1940's attire. This included the hair and make-up of the era. Besides being inspired by the movie (mostly Peggy Carter) I headed to Pinterest  and this website for The Looks Inspiration:

1st Inspo

       For my tutorial:

For the products used in the video:

Eye Shadow Primer: Hard Candy
  Amazon ($22.10+)
Walmart ($6.05 online, $5.00 in store)
It stays on and makes your eyeshadow pop out immensely. You don't need to have a lot to do so. Just a little dab and bada-boom! You're set for both day and night.

Target ($3.69) Walmart ($4.97)

Concealer:
         NYX HD
I recently bought this and it was one of my first times using it and so far I like it much more than the Revlon concealer I had been using in my previous Video Looks.

Maybelline Stick
Maybelline ($5.82), Amazon ($5.53), Walgreens ($5.99), Walmart (~$5.46)
If you're looking for more of a matte touch that really hides you're problem areas or just need a concealer to throw into your purse on a rainy day (let's be real, that's every day) then your girl Maybelline's got you covered.

BB Cream: Maybelline
Walmart ($6.50), Maybelline ($8.99), Amazon (~$6.69)
I haven't worn 'real' foundation in years thanks to this stuff. It never feels like it's caked on or that you're melting out of it. Which is good for me considering I always have a fever (Whaddup autoimmune disorder I see you!). Not only that but I never have to worry about my face getting burnt when I'm out in the sun, so cheers for that! Also, it hides my gross skin from the world so, you're welcome guys.

Highlighter and Bronzer: Hard Candy
Bonaza ($7.11)
I'll admit that my own is very old and I should throw it out, however that doesn't mean that it doesn't work still. Which It does! One of my favorite bronzer and highlighters I've been able to try.

Powder: NYC
Mercari ($5.00)
Again I should probably throw my own out and get a new one considering how old mine is but none the less the powder still works. It doesn't take much to cover or set your whole face and it quite clearly lasts a long time.

Eyeliner: Maybelline
Target ($5.59)
Another item that I recently purchased that is quickly becoming one of my favorites! It doesn't smudge! Which is a necessity for someone who is constantly running fevers. Also, the waterproof one stays on all day.

Amazon ($2.37)

Eyebrows: Sweet & Shimmer

So an Ulta finally opened in my area and they had a huge opening sale which I had to raid. In my pillaging, I picked up this little number. I haven't used a brow pencil in ages but this one hasn't disappointed me.

Lips: L'oreal 24hr Lipcolor (Thistle)

Walmart ($6.49)
Another number I picked up a couple of years ago (I really have to clean out my makeup, like yesterday). This is one of those liquid lipsticks that you don't need much of to go a long way. When it says 24hr it means 24hrs! You better like the color because it's tattooed to you for the next day my dear.

e.l.f Matte Lipcolor (Rich Red)
e.l.f ($3.00)
This is my all time favorite color in this line. Goes on seamlessly and always looks hella cute.

e.l.f Lip Stain (Nude Nectar)
e.l.f ($2.00)
e.l.f. Lip Stain's are by far my favorite lip products. They last for such a long time! (Putting them on, wise)

L'oreal ($7.29), Amazon ($4.74), Walmart ($5.84-$6.97)

MascaraL'oreal

For someone with long lashes, this girl will save your life. Also, she'll make you cute while doing so, so hey-hey. Win-win. In seriousness though, a good mascara for really cheap but doesn't feel like it.

For my hair, I used two rollers and many bobby pins to do pin curls. The rollers and bobby pins I both got in packets at the Dollar Store. I have found a new respect for our maternal ancestors via their beauty routines as I tried out doing pin curls. They're simple, cheap, and better for your hair than a curling iron. Why fix something that isn't broken, right?

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and hope you found any of these products helpful.
              Until Next Time,
❤CJ❤
